Jill Savery is an Olympic gold medalist, eight-time world champion, and International Swimming Hall of Fame Inductee in the sport of synchronized swimming. Jill works for London-based sustainability charity BioRegional Development Group leading their London 2012 work program. This role is aimed at supporting London 2012’s ‘Towards a One Planet 2012’ vision and commitment to minimize the footprint of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and maximize sustainability benefits during and after the event.

Prior to joining BioRegional, Jill was most recently the Director of Sustainability Services for a municipal consulting company in California, where she pioneered and managed a Sustainability Services Division integrating climate change, sustainable building, and sustainable planning services into core business offerings. She served as a technical advisor to the California Institute for Local Government’s Climate Action Network. Jill has worked for the United States Olympic Committee managing relationships with nine National Governing Bodies. She also represented the United States at various international conferences on sport and environment.

Jill received a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management from Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California at Berkeley in Political Science. She has held several Board positions, represented the United States at various international conferences on sport and environment, and has coached and mentored young athletes for over two decades

Jen Lowthrop, Volunteer Coordinator, Volunteer Centre, London School of Economics

Jen Lowthrop runs the Volunteer Centre at the London School of Economics, supporting students in finding a range of volunteering opportunities both in the UK and abroad. Jen has previously worked at Volunteering England, Teach First and Hill Holt Wood, an environmental Social Enterprise. Jen is a trustee for the Young Achievers Trust and on the Steering Group for Climate Squad, offering advice to Global Action Plan on how their young Climate Squad can best help to cut carbon emissions. 

Holly Sherwood, Ted's Green Guardian, Ted Baker

Holly Sherwood graduated with a BA (Hons) IND in Fashion Design from Leeds University in 2006, and started her career in the men’s production team at Ted Baker. She was given the opportunity to present a report to the board on environmental issues that could affect the business, and after this started, a Green Team looked at different things they could do with in the company to improve their environmental impacts. Holly gradually took over more and more responsibilities in this area, from carbon reduction to supply chain issues, and now has a full time role as Ted’s Green Guardian. She is currently working with board members to develop their strategy going forward both on Carbon and Energy Management using the London Green 500 as their base for this, and also on ethical and environmental issues within their supply chain.

Rachel Power, Graduate Careers Advisor, Careers Service, London School of Economics

Rachel Power is responsible for providing Careers Support to recent LSE graduates, and manages the LSE Graduate Advance Careers Coaching Service. Rachel moved into careers work after completing an MSc in Career Management Counselling at Birkbeck College in 2008. Prior to the she held a number of information and research focused positions in organisations ranging from the Greater London Authority, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and Goldsmiths College. Rachel’s interest in green careers developed during her spent working at the GLA, where she became involved in organisational sustainability initiatives. Since working at LSE she has worked closely with the Environment Society and the Geography department, specifically the MSc Environment Policy and Regulation programme, to run a number of green collar careers events.
